An officer was advised that a bear and cub were walking down the beach next to the boat harbor, headed toward Lutak Inlet.

Sunday, Aug. 7

A caller reported the fire alarm was going off at the library. Fire crews responded and reset the alarm.

A caller reported domestic violence at a home. Police responded and arrested a woman.

Troopers were advised of a report of shots fired at the Mosquito Lake campground.

Saturday, Aug. 6

A caller reported a friend had been in town for the fair and had not shown up. The caller reported later that her friend was home safe.

A caller reported vehicles parked illegally in bus parking at the Port Chilkoot Dock.

A caller reported a small fire, about one-tenth of an acre, on Seduction Point Trail. A wild fire crew responded and doused it.

Friday, Aug. 5

A caller who thought someone might be trespassing or staying at their Highlands Estates house, asked police to check on it. An officer found the house vacant.

A caller reported a young girl playing in a dangerous spot at a curve on Young Road. An officer who responded couldn’t locate the child.

A caller reported a motorcycle parked on Main Street for several days. An officer attempted to contact the owner.

Police initiated a case after a caller reported a gas can missing from a boat that was in a downtown parking lot.

A business reported a white camper parked in their parking lot several days.

Thursday, Aug. 4

A caller reported a bear with two cubs walking down Old Haines Highway near the Haines School.

A caller reported a reckless driver heading toward a convenience store. Officers found the vehicle unoccupied.

A local business requested police help getting a person to leave. An officer responded and the person left.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

A person reported a vehicle parked in the same spot at the Visitor’s Center several days. Police contacted the individual, who agreed to move it.

A local business reported that a person was possibly supplying alcohol to minors. An officer who responded could not find anything.

A caller reported a bear was at their Menaker Road property at the same time that their goat became loose, but didn’t think the bear got the goat.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

Police were advised by a downtown business that an RV was parked in the exit of their parking lot.

A caller reported a van parked in the middle of the road for several hours on Young Road. Police responded and determined the vehicle was parked legally.

A caller reported removal of a “no trespassing” sign on River Road.

Juneau state troopers were advised of a report of an assault on a fishing boat near Hawk Inlet.

A man was arrested for drunk driving on Second Avenue.

A caller reported seeing flames over trees from a large burn pile on Mount Riley Road. Fire crew responded and helped a homeowner whose bonfire was out of control.

A caller reported a bear breaking into their Tower Road shed. An officer responded and the bear left the scene.

There were 14 medical calls and two calls about dogs.
