I would like to say how important the Senior Center is to me and most of the seniors who come for senior lunch at this building. I will list the activities I use and the importance of having this nice building in this community. Haines is fast becoming the place of choice for retirees to make their home all year or part of the year. The building is a nice place to exercise and eat lunch. The healthy, well-rounded lunches help me to keep my medications such as blood thinners well-balanced. Our family and other families have rented the building for holiday dinners. The seniors have game time and coffee klatches. The center is also in a very centralized area handy for Senior Village residents to walk and attend activities. Most of all, the senior center is a very comfortable and pleasant building to be in. We have heard there are ideas to let the building be vacant and maybe torn down. Please take time and not be hasty to cut use or get rid of this building, which is so important to this community and elders. There is a saying that Walter Soboleff left us with: “Take care of that elder that you are to become.” Put yourself in this position as to what you want in this community when you become an elder. Thank you for your kind attention. Marilyn R. Wilson
