Haines Volunteer Fire Department volunteers held the American flag and set up a memorial on the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Fire engines and the ambulance were staged in the public safety building’s parking lot and poster boards were set up for the public to write words of commemoration. The posters were given to the Haines Sheldon Museum. The flag was raised at 8 a.m. and was put away at 5 p.m.
