The Port Chilkoot Company Board of Directors wishes to express their collective gratitude for community members’ concerns and the support for the major buildings within historic Fort William H. Seward. The Port Chilkoot Company is committed to historic preservation, community development and to being an economic driver within Haines and Fort Seward. It has been through help from the community, at such events as this summer’s Barracks Treasures Auction, and partnerships with other entities, such as the Alaska Arts Confluence and the National Parks Service, that the company has made the most progress towards preservation and rehabilitation of the major Fort buildings. There is still much to do and we aspire to continue these efforts in hope of opening up the buildings for the community’s use and benefit. In the meantime, the Port Chilkoot Company Board of Directors is deeply appreciative of the community’s engagement in, and commitment to, the preservation and improvement of the major buildings within historic Fort William H. Seward.
