Last week Seaplanes was unable to fly for almost 3 days due to a low ceiling of fog.  I was expecting to catch a connecting flight from Juneau to go to my son’s wedding.  I was desperate.  Ready to jump in the canal and swim.  I called Drake and he lectured me about poor planning and didn’t I know by now that I should always have a plan B?  I admitted repeatedly that he was right and I was an idiot.

Meanwhile, a miracle appeared from the gloom. Fjordlines agreed to a sailing that was not on their schedule. Thursday morning, we rushed down to the harbor and boarded.  Captain Glen Jacobson and his first mate and daughter Libby saved the day, the weekend and my mental health. They even served us homemade smoked salmon chowder!

I am deeply grateful to Fjordlines.  We in Haines are lucky to have such a resource.  They are a “class-act” operation.

A heartfelt thank you.
