Listening to last week’s assembly meeting I believe I heard a member state “now that COVID is over….” Not once but twice. I was alarmed at this misinformation after all the COVID numbers are widely accessible on the internet. The United States is still averaging 44,313 cases per day since Sept. 27. Alaska’s numbers at 94 per day puts the U.S. in the orange, meaning we have escalating community spread and should consider stay-at-home orders, more testing and contract tracing. The virus is far from finished and there is an expected surge in numbers this fall and winter. Here is one of many easily accessible articles:
