I’ve monitored some of the borough meeting comments made by local pseudo-experts, re: the Lutak Dock upgrades and the potential Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) funding for the facility. It seems the same, anti-everything types don’t want the Lutak Dock expanded to include a larger footprint for industrial storage or (God forbid!), high grade ore concentrate from local mines or from those in the interior of Alaska or Canada for surface export to markets or refining. I’ve lived here for more than 50 years. The town, to have a future, will depend on good paying jobs. To have more than half of our community and their children forced to live at or below the poverty line is not something to be proud of. Highly paid environmental mouths are only out for themselves. Their plans do not include most of you. Do not believe their lies. They are not your friends. They have an unbroken track record of attempts to destroy our natural resource economy. To you fishermen: you’re their next target. I am, by the way, the chair of the ports and harbors committee. Show up once in a while and hear the facts.
