A Skagway resident reported being harassed by a co-worker. Police referred the call to the Skagway Police Department.

A caller locked herself out of her car while the engine was running. Dispatch referred her to a business that could help.

A traffic stop resulted in a warning for a defective headlight.

Sunday, Aug. 18

  A person reported an advertisement for illegal substances on the community website. The post advertised prescription medications, marijuana, steroids and other drugs for sale. Police investigated and found the given phone number didn’t work.

    A caller reported a person tried to fraudulently use her credit card to purchase music online. Investigation continues.

A resident complained of a suspicious person riding around in the backseat of a vehicle. Officers responded and found nothing suspicious.

A resident reported a disturbance at the skate park. An officer responded and told skaters to use the curfew as a guideline for monitoring noise generated by skating.

Traffic stops resulted in a warning for a defectiveheadlight and a citation for speeding.

Saturday, Aug. 17

A caller reported a strong smell of ammonia behind buildings on Third Avenue and Main Street. A responder was unable to locate the smell.

Dispatch relayed a message that a helicopter needed to pick up fuel.

The Haines Animal Rescue Kennel picked up a male chocolate lab near 0 Mile Haines Highway.

A caller asked how to remove keys from a locked vehicle. Dispatch referred the caller to a business that could help.

A person near 33 Mile Haines Highway reported a drunk and disorderly man threatening others. Troopers responded.

A resident sought help locating a relative possibly medevaced out of town. Dispatch provided the resident with the names and numbers of area hospitals.

A parent requested a welfare check on a minor who went out with a friend. An officer responded and found the minor on her way home.

Traffic stops resulted in a warning for an obstructed taillight and a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Friday, Aug. 16

A Front Street resident reported fireworks being set off.

A caller reported a vehicle parked on Third Avenue in the wrong direction. Police responded and the vehicle was moved.

A caller reported a man trespassing on her Comstock Road property. The man was standing near the caller’s storage shed, refused to leave and dared the caller to contact police.

A business reported an ex-employee making harassing phone calls. The call was referred to the Skagway Police Department.

A two-vehicle accident occurred in the Mosquito Lake area. No injuries were reported and there was minimal damage.

Thursday, Aug. 15

Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the Young Road area. A woman was arrested for assault in the fourth degree. Alcohol was a factor.

A man reported his child had run away. The child phoned to say he was staying with his grandmother.

A Mathias Avenue resident reported a regular visitor was stealing from her home. She asked police to perform additional patrols.

A woman reported her brakes were intentionally cut while her vehicle was parked on Mud Bay Road. Investigation continues.

A Deishu Drive resident requested help getting into her locked apartment.

     A man reported being harassed by another man. Police told the harasser to stop.

      A woman requested a welfare check on a relative. Police found the man was fine.

   A person reported a drunk driver at Chilkoot Lake. Police contacted the driver and determined he wasn’t impaired.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

    A caller reported a bear cub with a fly hook in its tongue. The wildlife trooper was advised.

A person reported a camper parked on Main Street causing a traffic hazard. Police contacted the driver, who moved the vehicle.

A person reported a borough dump truck speeding down Small Tracts Road. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

A caller reported two girls setting up a drink stand in the grass on Front Street.

A person reported a light fixture had fallen and shattered in the school parking lot. Police contacted school maintenance.

A reckless driver was reported in a downtown parking lot. Police contacted the driver and found nothing amiss.

A caller sought help retrieving a ladder loaned to a family member. Dispatch advised it was not a police issue.

A person reported a vehicle rollover near 30 Mile Haines Highway. A 54-year-old man needed to be removed from the vehicle. Troopers were advised.

Tuesday, Aug. 13

A caller reported an injured baby raven at the Port Chilkoot Dock. The American Bald Eagle Foundation was notified.

A caller reported a company conducting tours on the Chilkoot River without a permit. Investigation continues.

A person reported a man picking up tourists at the Visitor Center without a permit. Police were unable to locate the vehicle described.

A caller reported a bicyclist was run off the road by a vehicle near Second Avenue and Mud Bay Road. Police investigated and found the cyclist had crashed independently and had already received medical treatment.

Police issued three written warnings to vehicles parked illegally at the Port Chilkoot Dock.

A ferry system port manager requested information about a ferry passenger who had disembarked at the wrong port. Troopers were advised but said it wasn’t a criminal issue.

A traffic stop resulted in a warning for a parking violation.

Dispatch received 16 medical calls and four canine calls.
