Thank you for keeping us former Haines residents updated on the happenings around Haines.
It’s nice to see that things are going well. However, I was alarmed to read in the July 26 Police Report that: “A citizen advised police they would be traveling to Juneau via canoe.”
This raises some troubling questions. First, who will take care of Haines while the police are paddling down Lynn Canal? Just as importantly, how does one lone citizen have the power to command all the cops out of town? Will this work for the borough assembly? It could become quite popular. Also, do all the officers have to cram into a single canoe? Sounds dangerous. Why not just take a ferry? The budget must be worse than I thought.
Lots to chew on. Anyway, I wish them all a safe trip. Bon voyage! Keep up the good work.
