Police investigated a tip that someone was growing marijuana in the Mud Bay Road area. The homeowner gave permission for police to search the house and officers found nothing amiss.
Police were unable to locate skateboarders reported on Union Street, Second Avenue and the Haines Highway.
Sunday, May 19
A caller reported an unoccupied house on Dalton Street might have been briefly inhabited by four men she had seen walking by the premises. Police found nothing amiss.
Dispatch received report of a vehicle near 4 Mile Haines Highway parked on the white line, but officers were unable to locate any illegally-parked vehicles.
A caller requested a welfare check on children running around outside a downtown apartment complex. Police confirmed the children were supervised by adults.
A caller reported a motorcycle parked near a handicap parking spot on Main Street. Police asked the owner to move the motorcycle.
Two traffic stops resulted in verbal warnings for not maintaining a safe speed and a parking violation.
Saturday, May 18
A caller requested a welfare check on a woman in Haines. When contacted by police, the woman said she was fine and asked that the individual stop calling, as it was causing domestic problems.
Dispatch received a report of a brown bear getting into trash at the fairgrounds, but police could not locate the bear.
A caller reported a driver was speeding down Allen Road with his head out the window. Police searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
A caller reported a vehicle in a ditch on Allen Road. The vehicle was moved.
A caller reported two men had broken into a residence on Front Street. Police determined the issue stemmed from a dispute between current and previous occupants and issued trespass warnings.
Two traffic stops resulted in verbal warnings for expired registration, a cracked windshield and inattentive driving.
Friday, May 17
A Deishu Drive resident reported loud music from a party. Police responded and found the noise level was reasonable.
Public works was advised that someone had smeared feces on the walls of the Lutak Road public restrooms.
An out-of-town caller requested information on how to deal with a landlord/tenant issue at a View
Street residence. The tenant had vacated the premises, but a person was still living on the property. Police told the occupant to leave and advised the landlord to have keys brought to the police department so they could determine the home was empty.
A caller reported a breaking at a Dalton Street cabin. Police initiated a trespassing investigation.
A caller reported a man walking down Allen Road at 2 a.m. yelling obscenities. While on the phone, the man ceased yelling, and dispatch instructed the caller to contact police again if the disturbance continued.
Thursday, May 16
A protective order regarding a landlord-tenant dispute on Myra Lane was received and served. The manager of an apartment complex reported an assault in progress. Police responded and determined the conduct did not rise to the level of criminal assault.
A business owner reported an unauthorized person performing work on the property. The owner told the man to leave and requested police document the matter.
A Mathias Street resident reported unknown people had been trespassing and destroying her property on a nightly basis.
A traffic stop resulted in a verbal warning for expired registration and a citation for failure to carry proof of insurance.
Wednesday, May 15
A caller reported personal items missing from his Myra Lane residence. He later reported someone may have taken the items by mistake and did not wish to file a report.
A caller reported disturbing construction noises in the New Hart Road area. Police responded and the noises
ceased.
Police assisted an elderly man in getting inside his residence safely.
A person reported loud music in the Mount Riley Road area.
The person called a second time to report fireworks were being set off. Police responded and the noise ceased.
A caller reported a person driving without a valid operator’s license, but called shortly again to say the person had stopped driving.
Tuesday, May 14
A man sought help accessing his Beach Road residence. Police concluded an ongoing landlord-tenant dispute should be handled by the civil court system.
A downtown motel reported a queen-sized bed had been stolen from one of the rooms.
Police suspect the person who stole the bed has also been using a master key to access and use the Jacuzzi suite. Police are following several leads.
An out-of-town caller requested a welfare check on a man in Haines. Police determined the man was fine.
A Haines man was arrested on a warrant for violating conditions of release. He was released on bail.
A traffic stop resulted in a verbal warning for excessive speed.
