I would like to express my support for our current Mayor, Jan Hill. Jan has tirelessly served the community of Haines for many years. I will not go into mentioning all the different local and statewide committees and boards that she has served on for decades. Everyone in Haines knows she has more than enough experience for her to take on another term as our Mayor.
I have witnessed how many community events that she attends whether it is to support the schools or fundraisers for everything you could imagine. She never misses a ballgame when our teams are playing at home, attends every funeral she can for the locals, young and elders alike. She supports our girl scouts by buying more cookies than she could ever eat. She always shares with her family and friends and never misses an opportunity to buy a raffle ticket.
She’s never made being Mayor about money, so having her salary cut in half doesn’t matter. She loves the job and is dedicated to making Haines a better place. Jan spends more evenings at committee and borough meetings than she spends at home, as well as making herself available to the public for at least four hours a day. You will never find a harder working, dedicated or qualified member of our community to be your Mayor.
Please vote on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Hopefully for Jan Hill!
