On May 25, the Haines School held its 2nd annual Wackypalooza. Students from grades three through seven enthusiastically participated in the 23 Wacky stations ranging from the soaking potential of the team water-balloon toss to the agility-required team obstacle course to the raucously exhilarating team math problem-solving station. Each student was required to exhibit their individual skills in athleticism, coordination, balance, dexterity, brainpower, speed and endurance. However, Wackypalooza is not an individual experience. Wackypalooza is a team event. Each member synergistically contributes to the greater good of the team.
Wackypalooza could not have been possible if it were not for all the volunteers who graciously donated a couple of hours to make the experience rewarding for all participants. A special thanks to all the parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and curious friends who showed up to cheer on the Wacky athletes. Also, thanks to Dylan Swinton, Hudson Sage, Mark Davis, Marirose Evenden, and the many other middle and high school students who showed up to help set up and run stations.
And finally, to the entire 7th grade class. Each of you displayed phenomenal patience, encouragement, and example. This was your responsibility going into Wackypalooza and I couldn’t be prouder of your demonstrated leadership skills.
