An FAA Road resident reported someone discharging fireworks. Police contacted the person, who agreed to stop.
Seven traffic stops resulted in three warnings for speeding, one for failure to stop at a stop sign, one for no proof of insurance, one for failure to register a vehicle in Alaska and two for inoperable headlights.
Sunday, July 3
A caller reported his vehicle was disabled near 1 Mile Haines Highway. He made arrangements to have it towed.
A counselor asked police to conduct a welfare check on a Haines resident. Police were unable to make contact with the subject.
A caller reported ATVs in the Chilkoot Estates subdivision. An officer was advised.
A person reported fireworks being set off on the town beach.
Four traffic stops resulted in three warnings for speed and one for failure to carry an Alaska driver’s license.
Saturday, July 2
A person reported an unauthorized vehicle parked on Dalton Street. Dispatch contacted the owner, who moved the vehicle.
Police helped an out-of-town agency relay a message.
Fireworks were heard at the station. Officers responded and concluded one group was in Lynn Canal. They were unable to locate the origin of the second group.
Two traffic stops resulted in two warnings for speeding and one for failure to carry a driver’s license.
Friday, July 1
A resident on Front Street reported someone was harassing them. Officers were advised.
A person reported a possible intoxicated driver on Small Tracts Road. Officers were advised.
A person reported an unattended minor in the Chilkoot Estates subdivision. An officer responded and determined the child was under supervision.
A Mud Bay Road caller reported ducks were missing. The person later called back to report the ducks had returned home.
Three traffic stops resulted in two warnings for speeding, one for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to use a turn signal.
Thursday, June 30
A bartender reported two patrons were fighting. While dispatch was on the phone, the bartender reported the two people had separated.
Police were made aware of a transient person possibly looking for help with housing.
Police received a protective order to serve on a Haines resident following an altercation on Front Street.
A traffic stop on Small Tracts Road resulted in a warning for speeding.
Wednesday, June 29
Dispatch received multiple reports of a vehicle fire at 1 Mile Haines Highway. Fire crews advised it was a false alarm.
An officer reported a female moose with two calves near 4.5 Mile Lutak Road.
Dispatch received a report of an unauthorized vehicle parked on Third Avenue. Dispatch contacted the vehicle owner’s residence and had a message relayed.
A Fort Seward area resident reported a speeding vehicle driving erratically. An officer responded and warned the driver.
Two officers responded to a Third Avenue office building for a harassment report.
Tuesday, June 28
A business owner near Main Street reported a vehicle was parked in front of their establishment for about 36 hours. The owner said the vehicle wasn’t parked there at the moment.
A resident reported a fraudulent business requesting large amounts of money from their elderly parent. An officer was advised.
A person reported a pickup truck frequently speeding through the Fort Seward area. An officer responded but didn’t locate the vehicle.
A resident reported a vehicle with a protest sign parked on Main Street. An officer responded and spoke with the vehicle owner, who removed the sign and moved on.
