A caller reported someone had moved and damaged her boat, which was parked at a lot on Dalton Street. An officer responded and initiated a case for criminal mischief. Damage was estimated at $500.
A caller from Anchorage asked police to conduct a welfare check on a relative living in Haines. An officer contacted the relative and confirmed the person was fine.
Saturday, March 7
A caller reported a person was violating a domestic violence restraining order on Deishu Drive. An officer responded and looked for a violation, though the restraining order had been dismissed. The officer confirmed the person wasn’t at the residence and no violation had occurred.
A caller reported someone broke into her vehicle while it was parked on Vermiere Street. The car was damaged and items were taken, resulting in a loss of about $300. An officer responded and initiated a case for theft and criminal mischief.
A caller asked police to conduct a welfare check on a man, who he had been unable to contact for a week. An officer located the man, who was fine.

Troopers reported receiving numerous complaints about a man walking down Main Street yelling and waving his arms around. An officer responded but the man was gone.
Thursday, March 5
A person asked police to conduct a welfare check on a family member. Police completed the check.
A caller reported an aggressive moose on Young Road charging at cars. An officer responded and found two moose off the road and not causing a problem.
A caller reported an assault had occurred six days prior. Police initiated a case.
A 911 caller asked for information regarding woodcutting on private property. Dispatch told the person to call back on the business line.
A caller reported a domestic dispute near the intersection of Mud Bay Road and Third Avenue. The caller said one of the people involved had left the residence. An officer responded, contacted all parties involved, and determined no assault had occurred.
A caller at a bar reported a man had pushed him during a confrontation. An officer responded and spoke with the caller, but was unable to find the other man, who had left the bar.
Wednesday, March 4
A Second Avenue resident asked for help with her sick cat.
A Department of Corrections officer called to ask police help check on a resident who was on probation. An officer went to the resident’s home, but the person wasn’t there.
A caller reported her dog had been taken. An officer was advised. The caller called back later to say she had recovered her dog where a family member had left it in front of a business along the Haines Highway.
Tuesday, March 3
A person asked police to conduct a welfare check on a resident who wasn’t answering the phone. An officer responded and confirmed the person was fine.
State road crews advised dispatch of a truck leaking gasoline out of its tank at the airport. The fire chief responded and determined the leak was very minor and not a threat.
A state agency asked for help from police but was referred to troopers.
A resident found a set of keys at the post office and brought them to the station.
Multiple callers reported hearing gun shots or fireworks in the Fort Seward area. An officer responded and determined a business was lighting fireworks. The business owner was contacted and warned about the fireworks.
