A man reported a truck and skateboarders impeding traffic. Officers spoke with the individuals.
A woman reported an unattended burn, but then called back to say someone was tending the fire.
A person reported a possible drunk driver on Main Street. An officer responded and arrested a 65-year-old man for driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license, and avoiding an ignition interlock device. The man was lodged in the Haines jail pending arraignment.
Sunday, April 24
The Skagway Police Department reported receiving a 911 call from a Haines location. Dispatch contacted the caller who was camping at Portage Cove campground. He reported he was having a panic attack. Police took the camper to a local hotel.
A caller reported a horse loose on Haines Highway. Dispatch contacted the owner.
Saturday, April 23
Police arrested a 29-year-old Haines man for driving under the influence and issued citations for failing to yield and driving without a valid operator’s license.
Friday, April 22
A caller reported receiving a fraudulent phone call from a person claiming to be the caller’s grandson.
A person reported receiving a fraudulent phone call from an automated dialing system.
A caller reported juveniles cutting trees for an ATV trail on borough property. An officer was advised.
A person reported a vehicle had been parked with its lights on for three hours. An officer was advised.
Thursday, April 21
A Haines School staff member reported a student had assaulted another student. An officer responded and met with the involved parties.
A caller reported receiving a fraudulent telephone call. The caller was advised to contact the phone company to have the number blocked.
A Mosquito Lake resident reported domestic violence. The caller was referred to troopers.
Police received a protective order to serve on a Mosquito Lake resident.
Wednesday, April 20
A woman reported she received a text from her boyfriend advising of an avalanche between the Haines Pass Summit and Jarvis Glacier. Dispatch contacted Haines Junction RCMP, Whitehorse RCMP and the Haines Volunteer Fire Department.
Dispatch received a report about an email scam called “The Hitman Scam,” where con artists present themselves as “hitmen” already hired by others to kill you, then extort payment to not carry out the contract.
A person turned in a cell phone found at Tlingit Park. The owner picked up the cell phone at the station.
A Second Avenue business reported their phones were down. Dispatch told the business to call the phone company.
A 911 caller asked about a custody issue out Mosquito Lake Road. Troopers were advised.
Tuesday, April 19
A local business reported a man digging at 4 Mile Haines Highway. Dispatched advised officers, who responded to the scene but were unable to locate the man.
A woman reported her vehicle broke down at 17 Mile Haines Highway. Troopers were advised.
