A resident at 3 Mile Haines Highway reported finding the door of their pick-up truck open. No items were missing, but the caller wanted to report the matter.

A caller reported a vehicle sliding at 11.5 Mile Haines Highway. The caller said there was black ice in the area. Troopers were advised.

Traffic stops resulted in warnings for speeding and a citation for failure to carry proof of insurance.

Sunday, Nov. 16

A Deishu Drive resident reported hearing what she thought might be a bear on her porch. Dispatch asked the woman to look out the window. The woman said there was a man. Police responded and found the man was the woman’s boyfriend and she had asked him to leave, but he had stayed on the porch. He left.

A motorist on Piedad Road reported a vehicle blocking the roadway. An officer responded but the vehicle was gone.

A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding.

Saturday, Nov. 15

A Fort Seward resident reported seeing two people dressed in black trying to access vehicles. An officer responded but was unable to locate the people.

A Fort Seward resident reported his vehicle door ajar and the glove box open. An officer responded and spoke with the caller.

A person living at the intersection of Mud Bay Road and 0 Mile Haines Highway reported her vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot. The owner later found the vehicle on Major Road. An officer responded, initiated a case for theft, and collected evidence.

A Tower Road resident reported her vehicle had been stolen the night before. An officer responded and met with the caller. The vehicle was later found damaged at 6 Mile Haines Highway. Police collected evidence from the vehicle, which was towed back to town.

Troopers reported a vehicle partially in the roadway near 13.5 Mile Haines Highway and said it would be towed if it wasn’t moved. Dispatch called the owner, who said he was getting parts to fix the vehicle. The owner moved the vehicle.

A Mathias Avenue resident reported hearing people going through items she had stored in the boat near her residence. An officer responded. The person called back to say she heard the people leaving the area because the officer scared them off.

A motorist reported a bear on the Haines Highway near the school. An officer responded but was unable to locate the bear.

A resident living near Mission Street and First Avenue reported a bear in the dumpster at the senior center. An officer responded but was unable to locate the bear.

Friday, Nov. 14

A resident living near Sixth Avenue and Main Street reported a bear at the high school. Police, troopers, and Fish and Game were notified.

A resident living near Dalton Street and Fifth Avenue came to the station to report a civil dispute and possible assault. An officer spoke with the person and went to the residence. The officer determined no assault had occurred.

Dispatch helped a caller relay information to the clinic.

Dispatch helped an out-of-town caller obtain a trooper’s contact information.

A traffic stop resulted in a warning for driving an ATV on the road.

Thursday, Nov. 13

A business near the intersection of Second Avenue and Main Street reported the theft of $6,000 overnight. An officer responded and initiated a case.

A caller reported a vehicle in the road near 19 Mile Haines Highway. The caller said she almost hit an oncoming vehicle because of the parked car. Troopers were advised.

A caller reported broken glass in the road at Second Avenue and Main Street. State road crews were advised.

Wednesday, Nov. 12

A Small Tracts Road caller reported someone went through his vehicle Monday night while it was parked at a business near 1 Mile Haines Highway. He was missing a pair of $70 sunglasses. He said he was merely reporting the incident and didn’t want a case initiated.

Tuesday, Nov. 11

An officer responded to Lutak Road near the ferry terminal after a vehicle reportedly went off the road due to black ice. No injuries or damage were reported. State road crews said they would sand the road.

A Mud Bay Road resident reported a vehicle in the ditch near 4 Mile Mud Bay Road. An officer responded and stood by while owners winched the vehicle out of the ditch. The accident was due to black ice on the road.

Traffic stops resulted in two citations for speeding and a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.
