The Haines Borough Personnel Committee met in two closed-door sessions in recent weeks to discuss contract renewals and performance of two borough officers.
The committee met Oct. 23 and again Monday to discuss the employment agreements of clerk Julie Cozzi and chief fiscal officer Jila Stuart.
Both Cozzi’s and Stuart’s contracts expired in March and are now in the process of being renegotiated. Cozzi and Stuart verbally agreed to work under the conditions of the expired contracts until new ones could be developed and presented to the assembly, said manager David Sosa.
Cozzi works full-time and is salaried at $65,144. Stuart makes $57,495, but is budgeted to work 37 hours per week.
As officers, Cozzi and Stuart work for the assembly, not the manager. The manager is also an officer of the borough.
Committee members are Joanne Waterman, Diana Lapham and Dave Berry. Stuart and Cozzi sat in on Monday’s meeting, Sosa said.
“It (was) an opportunity for the personnel committee to meet with each of the borough officers up for contract renewal,” Sosa said.
The contracts must be approved by the assembly, though it was unclear this week when that might occur.
