The Haines Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in the economic development summit this past Saturday. We would like to acknowledge and thank King’s Store, Southeast Roadbuilders, Chilkoot Indian Association, Captain’s Choice Motel, Miles Furniture, Takshanuk Mountain Trail, The Butler Did It Cleaning Service, and the Haines Borough for their food contributions and sponsorship and to Libby Kurz and Janet Kurz for their vegetable soup. We would also like to thank the Chilkat Center of the Arts for the use of their facility and the Haines Borough for their active participation in seeing the event through. We believe the event was a success at offering a snapshot of our local economy and what lies ahead for us in the future. We were fortunate to have representatives from Whitehorse and the Yukon in attendance and participants from Juneau joining us via teleconference. Despite the heavy snowfall we are very happy with the turnout for the event and hope to make this the first of many.
