Sunday, June 19

A caller requested police help because she was unfamiliar with the area. The caller stated she was camping in town and could not find her friends or the campsite. An officer responded and helped the woman locate the campsite.

A caller reported a raven with a broken wing on Union Street. The American Bald Eagle Foundation responded and sent the raven to the Juneau Raptor Center.

Multiple callers reported a male yelling very loudly in the Comstock area. Officers responded and found the man was yelling at his dog.

A caller reported horses loose on Letnikof, and the horse owner was contacted.

An out-of-state caller requested a welfare check on family they had been trying to reach in Haines. An officer was advised and contacted the family.

A caller reported some equipment had rolled onto Allen Road. The business was contacted and the equipment was moved out of the road.

Saturday, June 18

A caller reported household trash being dumped at the fairgrounds burn pile.

A caller requested police help getting back their dog that was taken away several years ago in Juneau and adopted out. An officer spoke to the man and informed him there was nothing the department could do for him regarding the dog.

A person reported a nuisance bear in their neighborhood on Otter Avenue. The person reported the bear had eaten their barbecue and jumped up and looked in the back windows of their house. An officer was advised.

A caller reported vehicles blocking the entrances to the Fort Seward parade grounds and said people could no longer enter to go camping. An officer responded.

A caller reported a suspicious man walked around a downtown restaurant and then looked in the windows. An officer was advised.

Friday, June 17

A caller reported a vehicle lost a tire near Chilkoot Lake. A state trooper responded.

A caller reported a person passed out in a vehicle on First Avenue. An officer responded and found a man sleeping in a truck between fishing trips. The person was asked to move along, because he was on private property.

A caller reported a black truck had been parked outside her apartment for 20 minutes. The caller stated the vehicle was gone now and she would shut her blinds.

Thursday, June 16

A caller reported a brown hatchback vehicle had been parked at 16 Mile Haines Highway for about a week. State troopers were advised and said they were aware of the vehicle.

A caller reported a tour bus was speeding on Front Street and then headed to the Port Chilkoot Dock. An officer was advised and informed the tour business of the complaint.

A caller reported a foul smell coming from a cruise ship and said it smelled like burnt rubber. An officer responded and found the ship was having engine problems and spewing black smoke.

A caller reported children stomping on the benches and planters at the Port Chilkoot Dock. An officer was advised.

A caller reported a person was driving into town without a rear license plate. Officers located the person and gave a warning.

Wednesday, June 15

A caller reported a full bag of trash rolling around at the Fort Seward parade grounds.

A caller reported alder brush that was obstructing vision for drivers at the bottom of Main Street. DOT was advised.

A caller reported an illegal burn on Fourth Avenue. An officer responded and did not find any fire.

A caller reported two horses loose on Mud Bay Road. An officer was advised and contacted the owner.

Tuesday, June 14

A caller reported trouble with a water line on Lynn View. Water and sewer departments were advised.

A caller reported children walking on the railings at the Port Chilkoot Dock. An officer responded and found only parents with children in the area.

A visiting family member was reported as very depressed and suicidal. Lynn Canal Counseling Services and state troopers were advised.

There were 26 medical calls and one call about dogs.

An officer helped corral a loose horse on Spruce Grove Road.A caller reported a vehicle speeding down FAA Road. An officer responded and did not locate the vehicle. Charges are pending for negligent driving.A caller reported hitting a moose at 14-15 Mile Haines Highway. State troopers were advised and a charity was called to respond and dispose of the moose.A caller reported a vehicle off Small Tracts Road. Police contacted the owner of the vehicle, which was broken down.A person came to the police station to report a physical altercation between him and his girlfriend at a downtown bar. The person stated that during an argument, he slapped his girlfriend. An officer spoke with the man and arrested him for domestic violence.
