Children are ready to learn by imitation and exploration as soon as they are born, and it is adult influence that sets the tone to enrich their brains. The Prime Time Learning Project aspires to inform adults how vital their influence can be with habits as simple as more face-to-face talking (extending vocabulary) and reading and telling stories with children (developing language and social skills). Through newspaper ads and flyers posted around town, we will share specific ideas for parents and all adults to guide the youngest members of our community to thrive.

Our project is made possible by grant funding from the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation (an affiliate of the The Alaska Community Foundation), Chilkat Valley News, Haines Borough School District, Haines Woman’s Club, Friends of the Library, and Haines Education Association. Thank you to all these funders, and those donors supporting them, for recognizing the value of promoting early literacy in our community. Watch for Prime Time Learning newspaper ads and flyers throughout town this year.
