Haines Borough Assembly and mayoral candidates will participate in a forum coordinated by the Chilkat Valley News and KHNS on Monday, Sept. 26, at the Chilkat Center.
The forum is open to the public and will start at 6 p.m. with one-minute introductory remarks from mayoral candidates Jan Hill and Stephanie Scott. Hill and Scott then will have 30 seconds to respond to each question from the media and public.
After about half an hour, the focus will shift to the assembly candidates until approximately 8 p.m. John Brower, Jerry Erny, Karen Hess, Jerry Lapp, Debra Schnabel and Norm Smith are on the ballot for the October municipal election.
“We’ll ask for answers in rotation, so everyone gets a chance to answer first,” said Tara Bicknell, news and public affairs director for KHNS. “After media questions, the public will have a limited opportunity to ask questions, too.”
She said the forum would be aired at least twice on KHNS before the Tuesday, Oct. 4, election. The event also is scheduled to be on cable channel 14 at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.
