Kensington Gold Mine returned to full operation last week following the death of a worker on Sept. 7.
Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. announced Sept. 15 the mine, located 35 air miles from Haines, returned to operating at full capacity and it did not expect “any material impact to its gold production guidance for 2011.”
Juneau resident Joe Tagaban, 30, died Sept. 7 while working underground. He was near a hole that intersected a stope. A blast sent a rock through the drill hole that struck Tagaban.
The mine also confirmed a Mine Safety and Health Administration inspector suffered a fall at Kensington sometime after the blast that killed Tagaban, but no other details were released.
The mine had four days of down time and planned maintenance following the incident.
