The storm last week gives us another reason why we need the Lutak Dock. That poor ship couldn’t hold anchor and had to try and get out of the wind. I am embarrassed that we didn’t have a dock to tie up to, it should have been done by now!

We need to fix the dock, like in the contract that we signed with Turnagain Marine. Also, we need to make sure it’s large enough and dredged enough to accept very large vessels. I wouldn’t mind paying more in taxes to help make it happen. 

Lutak Dock was a very valuable asset for Haines. An ice-free, deep-water dock connected to a  fine international road system is a treasure we shouldn’t give up.
