Lynn Canal Community Players has announced auditions for a play debuting in late April.

The production is “Rumors” by Neil Simon, a comedy which will co-star eight cast members, with two additional supporting roles. In the play, four couples find themselves in an anniversary party gone awry.

The play is a “farce,” a specific genre of comedy that involves fast-paced physical comedy and gags based around things like miscommunications and mistaken identities, said director Annette Hillman. “I’m looking for fun people. It’s a really funny play.”

Hillman has previously directed youth theatre in town, but it’ll be her first go-around directing the Llynn Canal Community Players. Other first timers are encouraged to try their hand and audition.

“I’ve seen lots of first-time actors come through and be successful,” Hillman said. “There’s nothing better for your brain than memorizing lines and socializing. It’s fun and it fires up those neurons that are just laying dormant if you’re only doing your day-to-day thing.

Auditions are scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Chilkat Center. Prospective actors can also email Hillman at [email protected] for a zoom audition.
