Friday Dec. 12

A caller requested a welfare check on a friend they had been unable to contact. Dispatch contacted the person via a landline and gave them the friend’s name and number. 

A caller advised that a vehicle on Mosquito Lake Road was on fire. The Klehini Volunteer Fire Department responded.

A caller advised that a vehicle was in a ditch at 13 Mile Haines Highway. There was no one inside. The state’s Department of Transportation was advised.

A caller  that someone destroyed property on Moose Lane. Borough police contacted both parties by phone.  

A caller turned in a cellphone and a wallet. The items were listed in the police department’s lost and found. 

The fire department performed a service call at Jones Point. 

A caller reported kids playing on the Young Road hill without adults or reflective gear and worried about them being around traffic. An officer responded.

A caller reported receiving a possible scam call requesting money. They filed a report for information purposes. 

Borough police received a protective order to be served. 

A caller on Mathias Avenue reported footprints in the snow around their house. Nothing was damaged or missing.

A caller reported the license plate number of an abandoned vehicle on Main Street. The vehicle’s owner was contacted. 

A caller reported seeing a bright light at the top of Mount Ripinsky. An officer was advised. 

Borough police received a report of an Office of Children’s Services complaint being filed. 

Friday, Dec. 19

A caller reported a vehicle accident without injury at 22 Mile Haines Highway. A Haines Borough police officer and a village public safety officer from Klukwan responded. 

A caller reported a cutting-edge of a grader on the side of the road on First Avenue. The borough Department of Public Works was notified and responded. 

There was one 911 hangup call, two canine calls, six EMS calls and two burn permits issued. 

Monday, Dec. 28

The fire department performed a service call on First Avenue. 

A caller reported their vehicle was stuck in the roadway on Second Avenue. The fire department and borough police responded, and the vehicle was moved. 

Tuesday, Dec. 29

A caller reported their vehicle was stuck and gave a description of the vehicle. He has left the vehicle. 

A Nixle alert was sent out for a travel advisory from the Department of Transportation due to hazardous road conditions. 

An officer assisted another agency in the 300 block of the Haines Highway. 

A caller reported that their vehicle was stuck and gave a vehicle description. A Nixle was sent out to advise of the hazardous road conditions. 

Wednesday, Dec. 30 

A caller reported their vehicle was stuck at Letnikof Cove and gave a description. A Nixle was sent out to advise of hazardous road conditions. 

There were multiple reports of roadways blocked with snow, inaccessible or single lane only. The borough offices closed. 

A caller reported a general alarm in the 100 block of the Haines Highway. The volunteer fire department responded. It was a water alarm, there was no fire. The alarm was reset. 

A caller reported an avalanche. There were no injuries, but Lutak Road was blocked. Alaska State Troopers and the state’s Department of Transportation responded. Nixle alerts were sent out advising of hazardous road conditions.

A caller in the 1000 block of the Haines Highway reported firewood missing from their property. An officer was advised. 

Tuesday, Jan. 5

The Department of Transportation issued a travel advisory for road conditions on the Haines Highway. The borough sent out a Nixle alert. 

A caller on Lutak Road reported online harassment. An officer was advised. 

An officer responded to a call about a vehicle blocking Deishu Drive. 

The Klehini Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 22 Mile Haines Highway. It was a false alarm.

The Haines Volunteer Fire Department performed a service call. 

A caller at 7.5 Mile Haines Highway requested to speak with an officer regarding a civil matter. An officer was advised.

Friday, Jan. 8 

A caller reported a snow berm blocking traffic on Front Street. Public Works was advised.

Saturday, Jan. 9

A caller reported that multiple vehicles were caught in an avalanche on the Haines Highway. There were no known injuries. Borough police and fire department personnel, the Klehini Valley Volunteer Fire Department and state Department of Transportation responded. 

Multiple vehicles reported being stuck in snow berms on Third Avenue. Borough police and public works were advised. 

A caller reported they received calls from a neighbor stating there were people in their backyard looking in their windows on Second Avenue. Officers were advised.

A caller reported concerns about snowmachine usage on the highway at 34 Mile. The caller was advised of travel advisories sent out by Nixle. 

A caller reported that a vehicle slid into a ditch on FAA Road. No injuries were reported. Police and public works were advised.
