Eben Sargent has my vote.

I am grateful that Eben Sargent has come forward and is willing to do the thankless, time-consuming, and brutal job of being on the assembly.  I’ve seen Eben’s leadership on the Haines Huts and Trails Board and on the Haines Borough Planning Commission and we desperately need his critical thinking skills and calm, steady leadership on the assembly.  Above all, Eben has the uncommon ability to look at problems, identify the root causes, and develop workable plans to effectively resolve the issues. He is able to pay diligent attention to details, while keeping a steady eye on the big picture goals.  Furthermore, Eben doesn’t give up when obstacles seem insurmountable, and doesn’t resort to bullying or name calling.

In his work on the planning commission, Eben has shown that he has the capacity and desire to wade through the relevant facts and voluminous information needed to make the best decision on the dock and other complex issues our town faces.  His clear thinking will be a huge benefit to this town.

Retirees greatly enhance the quality of life in Haines, but we also need young families and year-round workers to keep our community vibrant. Eben’s priorities of improving access to childcare and affordable housing recognize this need and that it is vital if we want to attract and retain teachers and other workers in our community.

We need Eben and his skills on the assembly. Please join me in voting for him!
