Thank you to everyone who searched and continues to search for my 2-year old golden retriever, Cedar, who went missing from my home and yard on Cemetery Hill immediately after we returned together from a beach walk and errands in town at noon Wednesday, Feb. 19. It’s been over a week now. The community love and extended effort in searching for her has been extraordinary and helpful in holding me up.

Cedar is a reddish-colored, sweet, friendly girl and was wearing a blue harness and a red collar with no tag. Her picture is in posters around town. There have been only two reported “maybe” sightings of her, and none recent. She may be in the woods or brush somewhere hunkered down and injured.

For those inclined to keep searching and who are out and about on these moderate weather days, perhaps a focus on the areas where she might have gone into the woods after a scent and got pulled out farther away from home than usual. Perhaps the woods and trails, high and low, in and around Takshanuk, Jones Point, River Road, Major Road, Fairgrounds, and golf course? Moose and coyotes have been spotted in those areas. Also, a more thorough search of the woods between Mud Bay and Small Tracts Roads?

I don’t know where trap lines are set, but those who do, please check them. Any word at all about her at any time still greatly appreciated.
