Caller reported a tree blocking the entire roadway on Beach Road. The borough’s Public Works Department was advised and responded. 

Caller requested a welfare check on a friend on Small Tracts Road who he was unable to get a hold of. 

A message was relayed to DOT with questions about runway conditions at the airport. 

A lost wallet was reported.

Monday, Dec. 2

Officers responded to a report of an assault on Union Street. 

Caller reported someone put sugar in his fuel tanks on Haines Highway.

Caller reported their vehicle was stuck on the shoulder  of Mud Bay Road and was worried a snow plow might hit it. DOT was advised. 

Firefighters performed a service call on Sawmill Road. 

Tuesday, Dec. 3

Caller requested a welfare check on a neighbor on Deishu Drive. 

Caller reported a Delta Western vehicle blocking  Second Avenue. 

Protective order was received by Haines Police Department. 

Caller reported a boat sinking in the Small Boat Harbor. 

Wednesday, Dec. 4

Caller reported a vehicle blocking an alleyway, impeding snow removal on First Avenue. 

A loud noise was heard in the police department. Officers responded but were unable to locate the source.

Caller reported a bear in the View Street area. 

Caller reported his vehicle was stolen in Klukwan.

Thursday, Dec. 5

Caller again reported his vehicle was stolen in Klukwan. 

A driver received a warning for speeding and failure to use a turn signal on Haines Highway. 

Caller reported debris falling on Lutak Road. 

Caller reported damages to their building on Main Street. 

Caller reported an assault  on Union Street. 

Friday, Dec. 6

A driver received a verbal warning for an equipment violation on Third Avenue. 

A driver received a verbal warning for speeding on Haines Highway. 

Firefighters performed a service call on Sawmill Road. 

Caller reported an incident on Union Street. Officers investigated and found the report unfounded. 

Firefighters performed a service call on First Avenue. 

Officer responded to a report of an open container. Citations were issued on Third Avenue. 

Saturday, Dec. 7

Firefighters and officers responded to a report of a structure fire on Fort Seward Drive. 

Sunday, Dec. 8

Officers responded to a report of an open door on River Road. The residence was secured. 

Caller reported a bear in the Oslund Drive area.

Monday, Dec. 9

Dispatch received reports of shots fired and a possibly injured person on Fourth Avenue. Officers responded. Firefighters were dispatched to provide traffic control and incident staging. Officers made an arrest. 

Officers assisted another agency on Haines Highway. 

Caller reported blood drops on the snow that had crusted over and looked old on Lynnview. Caller did not know if the drops were from a dog or bear. Officers advised. 

Caller reported a male trespassing at the school. The trespasser spoke of having just come down from a space ship and appeared intoxicated. An officer responded.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

An officer assisted another agency. 

Caller reported an injured bear in the Deishu Drive area had opened a car door. An officer was advised. 

Caller reported harassing messages on Main Street. An officer responded. 

Caller reported receiving an iPhone message about an emergency on Haines Highway. Dispatch looked into the matter and found all was well at the reported residence. 

Wednesday, Dec. 11

Caller reported a vehicle that had been abandoned in the middle of Third Avenue. An officer responded and the vehicle was towed. 

Caller reported a vehicle in the ditch on Haines Highway. An officer responded and found the vehicle had been abandoned. The owner was contacted and stated he had just missed his turn and went into the ditch. 

Caller reported a boulder in the roadway on Lutak Road. DOT was advised and responded. 

A driver received a warning for failure to stop at a stop sign on Ed Shirley Drive. 

Thursday, Dec. 12

Driver received citations for failing to provide proof of insurance, failure to register a vehicle, failure to use a turn signal, and driving an unsafe vehicle Third Avenue and Main Street. 

Officers and firefighters responded to a vehicle accident on Lutak Road. 

Police received a protective order.. 

Caller reported they hit a coyote on Haines Highway and possibly caused injury. An officer was advised. 

Friday Dec. 13

Driver received a warning for speeding on Haines Highway. 

Caller reported black ice conditions on Lutak Road and requested sand. DOT was advised. 

Officer advised he will place a 72-hour move sticker on a vehicle if it is not moved by morning. 

There were seven 911 hang-up calls, three canine call, 34 EMS calls, and four burn permits issued during this reporting period.
