Hello, Polly Palmieri here!

As many of you know, I have lived in Haines for most of my life and have been the advertising manager at the Chilkat Valley News for the past year.

When my husband and I made the decision to move back to beautiful Haines – I found myself in need of a job to help make that transition possible. I’m so grateful to have received a timely call from Leigh Horner about this job.

Since I was hired in July 2023 I have truly enjoyed working with the makers and movers of Haines. It was eye-opening to witness first-hand the hearts and hands that facilitate every small business, First Friday, holiday event and beloved annual tradition. Working with the passionate, hard-working members of this community has given me a profound new appreciation for the people who make the magic that brought my husband and I back here. Thank you all for showing me what an incredible difference just one person can make.

It has been a pleasure and an adventure; and as I move onto my next big adventure (we’re having a baby!) I want to thank the entire Chilkat Valley News team, past and present for welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to work so closely with this wonderful community.

I’m excited to share that I’ll be passing the torch to not one, but two incredibly qualified and talented individuals who will be taking over after Thanksgiving. I hope you will give them the same warm and inspiring welcome that you offered me during my time here.
