Last week’s CVN insert was as upsetting as it was untruthful – more spin than fact. For example, I participated in the community uproar over the borough contract with previous assessor Michael Dahle. There was clearly something amazingly problematic with a man who could piss off and unite so many people across the Haines political spectrum!
Need I remind readers that it wasn’t the Dawson assembly that hired Dahle? And that it was the Dawson assembly that listened to the will of the people and sent him packing?
Other problems the Dawson assembly inherited are not as easy to fix.
I am of the opinion that many, if not all, the current issues surrounding the Lutak Dock and Porcupine Road stem from an administrator who made costly mistakes and errors of judgment.
Trying to pin this on a group of elected volunteers rather than the former borough manager who was being paid to track contract and grant details is ridiculous.
For these reasons I am using the CVN insert as fire starter and will vote for Natalie Dawson and Debra Schnabel, and give newcomer Nora Zimmerly a chance.
