Haines Friends of Recycling thanks the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation for its grant to us in 2023 for general operating support. The funds helped us with our work, including providing zero waste events at the Fishermen’s Barbecue, the Fourth of July at Tlingit Park, and the SEAK Fair. It also helped us collect in-town recycling from the cruise dock, the Visitors’ Center, the Senior Village, and Fourth and Main. As we move forward with acquiring property and building a new recycling center in town, we also used some of the funds for various permits and other initial expenses.
The community foundation is such a vital source of support for the non-profits in the Chilkat Valley as together we work to improve the quality of life for all of us who live here or visit our amazing valley.
