

$1,300 – the amount of money chef Travis Kukull spent on pork belly and lamb legs for the Brewer’s Dinner at Harriet Hall, which served 200 people. Kukull used about 75 pounds of flour, 15 pounds of fiddlehead fern chutes, 25 pounds of geoducks, and a half gallon of chicken of the woods mushroom powder.

39 – the number of people who were told to dispose of their open alcohol containers on Saturday during Beerfest, according to Haines police. Four people were contacted for urinating in public, and one person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Two intoxicated people were given rides by police to their lodging, and one person was reported sleeping in the entryway of a business.


1,900 – the number of tickets sold for Beerfest, with about 200 of those from Friday’s Brewer’s Dinner.
40 gallons – the amount of beer in 2 oz. samples distributed by Haines Brewing during Beerfest. The local brewery brought one keg each of several beers, and two of their spruce tip ale and a 25th anniversary special IPA. All of the beers sold out just before the festival closed.

300 – The number of sausage rolls sold by Foundroot, which opened its Dalton City location for the first time for Beerfest. Co-owner Nick Schlosstein said he made puff pastry by hand over the course of several days. “It was a real dumb thing to do, but it was a pretty good workout,” he said. The store also sold 30 cold brew coffees and sold out its cookies. “We had people lined up out the door the whole time. It was a really good opener,” Schlosstein said.
