Roselina and I are leaving Haines after five great years.
We came here in 2019 to retire after working at the Kensington Gold Mine near Juneau and on significant engineering and construction projects in remote locations worldwide.
Soon after we had settled in, the borough advertised the public facilities director position. Roselina suggested I apply. I did, and Debra Schnabel hired me. That was the beginning of one of my most enjoyable career experiences. Thank you, Debra, and thank you to the borough staff, contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and community members who made my job enjoyable and rewarding. Working together, we have accomplished some great things.
Unfortunately, life sometimes brings things that you hadn’t planned. Because of Roselina’s recent cancer diagnosis, we decided to move back home to Idaho to be near family and medical facilities. We have been through a lot in the past nine months and still have a long journey ahead of us.
Haines was kind to us. We have so many friends and a good church family supporting us. Thank you, Haines, for your prayers, concern, and support. We wish you well in the future.
