Nude and Rude Revue is a collective of performers that began in Skagway in 2016, but the group is now centered around Juneau. Performers now live in New Jersey, Philadelphia, California, Sitka, Haines and Whitehorse.

Eleven performers will be in Haines for the Feb. 27 show. The group features as a five-piece band known as “Better Than Boobs” with performers singing as well.

“Burlesque” refers to a style of entertainment made up of short comedy skits, often with elements of striptease. Organizers of Nude and Rude said the show will bring all of that and more — with a Southeast flair.

“There will be a lot of comedy, sparkle, silliness, but also a lot of sexiness,” said performer and organizer Taylor Vidic, “There’s also a bit of nudity but in the end to me it’s an afterthought.”

The Haines stop is part of a short tour from Juneau to Haines, Skagway and Whitehorse, where they will perform as part of the Yukon Rendezvous Festival. The group has previously performed at the Funny Farm at Mosquito Lake and in Fort Seward.

Beer and wine will be for sale at the center, and Vidic said local performer Amanda Painter will join the group for some of the songs.

Vidic said the performers are all musicians and performers outside of the group, but getting together for Nude and Rude is a highlight.

“This is our favorite performance of the year because we all come together and do exactly what we want to do,” she said.

Vidic said the performance is open to all — especially those who haven’t seen a burlesque show before.

“One of our taglines is ‘Make the skeptics believers and the believers fall in love,’” she said.
