An apartment manager reported a woman was trespassing. Police contacted the woman and told her she wasn’t allowed on the property. She left.
A caller reported a hit-and-run accident on Allen Road. Police investigated and arrested a 47-year-old man driving with a canceled license and leaving the scene of an accident. The man was cited and released.
A caller reported explosions near 2 Mile Mud Bay Road. Police responded and determined the fireworks were being set off on the beach below the mean high tide line and they had ceased.
Sunday, Aug. 30
A business reported a person had left behind their Canadian passport.
An employer asked police to conduct a welfare check on an employee who hadn’t shown up for work for several days. Officers determined the individual was fine.
Saturday, Aug. 29
A town-wide power outage was reported. Alaska Power and Telephone advised the power would be restored in a few minutes.
A person reported a street sign near the intersection of Piedad Road and Sunshine Street was knocked over. Public works employees were notified.
A Cathedral View subdivision resident reported low water pressure. A public works employee advised it was due to a power outage and pressure would be restored shortly.
A Fort Seward resident reported hearing gunshots. Dispatch advised the noises were fireworks permitted by the borough for a special event.
Friday, Aug. 28
A caller reported a person yelling and banging on a door at a nearby Main Street apartment. Dispatch contacted the apartment resident and was told the disorderly conduct had stopped.
A person turned in a key found near 38 Mile Haines Highway.
A traffic stop resulted in a warning for speeding.
Thursday, Aug. 27
Personnel from a local hotel reported somebody had left bags of garbage near the hotel’s locked dumpster shed. Police responded and determined the garbage was left by a guest who had permission to put it there.
A caller reported receiving a fraudulent call from “Publisher’s Clearing House.” Officers were advised.
Wednesday, Aug. 26
A company reported an alarm going off at a Young Road residence. Police responded and found the residence was secure.
A caller reported a truck with Canadian license plates repeatedly parking in a handicap stop at the Small Boat Harbor. An officer was advised.
A person reported a broken water pipe at a Fort Seward campground. Public works crew responded.
Police helped a woman and her children who placed an ad on a local website asking for help with emergency housing. Housing was arranged and the mother was put in contact with local agencies for additional assistance.
A person turned in a phone found near 26 Mile Haines Highway.
Tuesday, Aug. 25
A person reported a vehicle parked in a no parking zone at the clinic. Police contacted the driver, who moved the vehicle.
