I hear frustration from Haines residents so often about our assembly’s short-sighted thinking. I have been known to express it myself, occasionally. In this election we finally have the option of getting some new and younger energy onto our assembly. Please take the opportunity to elect Natalie Dawson, Kevin Forster and Craig Loomis to our assembly for new energy and new ideas. Tom Morphet will definitely be more forward thinking and creative than Jan Hill has proven to be in her previous terms as Mayor.
Then…most importantly, we must support them once they are elected! Our history shows that repeatedly assembly members feel battered rather than supported. We can — and need to — do better than that as a community.
