A caller said a bear was getting into their neighbor’s cherry trees on First Avenue. There was another call for a bear at the same residence on Aug. 18.

A business said a truck accidentally hit the side of its downtown building, causing little damage.

Sunday, Aug. 21

An officer noticed rocks coming down from a rockslide on Lutak Road. State road crews were advised.

A caller said an eaglet had fallen from its nest. The American Bald Eagle Foundation was advised and found the eaglet could fly and still was being fed by other eagles.

A caller said a bear was trying to get into their neighbor’s garage in the Piedad area.

Saturday, Aug. 20

There were multiple calls about rockslides on Lutak Road near the ferry terminal.

A business said a forklift had been taken from a First Avenue job site. Officers responded, and officials at the border and ferry terminal were advised. The caller reported back later that the forklift had been returned.

A caller reported hearing shots in the Beach Road area. An officer responded and did not find the source of the noise.

A caller sought a welfare check on a friend who hadn’t answered their phone in a couple days. An officer responded and contacted the person at home.

Friday, Aug. 19

A caller said a crow had a broken left wing from a cat attack. The American Bald Eagle Foundation sent the crow to the Juneau Raptor Center.

Thursday, Aug. 18

A caller sought a ride home after they saw a bear walk across Small Tracts Road in front of them. An officer drove the person home.

A caller said someone locked them in their downtown trailer and shook it, causing items to fall and break. Police said the incident likely was a prank, but are investigating.

A caller said a vehicle was blocking a fire hydrant on Main Street.

A caller said a reckless driver almost hit him when he was walking down Second Avenue.

Wednesday, Aug. 17

A caller said a car parked in the yellow zone was partially blocking the line of sight at the four-way stop on Main Street.

A caller said a person who was supposed to be in their custody by court order was now missing. The missing person then came down to the police station.

A caller asked that the owner of a vehicle parked at a downtown lot for a couple months be contacted and asked to move their vehicle.

Tuesday, Aug. 16

A water plant worker reported a bear tried to enter the FAA Road building and ripped up several bags of chemicals.

A caller reported a silver Jeep parked at the Lutak boat harbor for several days and said it might belong to an overdue kayaker.

A caller reported a dead eagle on a Mud Bay beach. The American Bald Eagle Foundation said the eagle died of natural causes.

There were 14 medical calls and seven calls about dogs.
