The Mosquito Lake School Community Center is looking for volunteer snow plowers for the upcoming winter. Since the weather disaster of December 2020, the parking lot has been used as the school bus turnaround due to erosion from a slide down the road. The bus plan for this winter is again to use the parking lot for student pick up and drop off. Additionally, Community Waste Solutions provides garbage service there every Saturday from 10:30 to noon and winter service will require a plowed lot.
The Haines Borough owns the facility, but has determined that it is the responsibility of the volunteer board to manage snow plowing for the property. So, we are looking for some kind, industrious and well-equipped folks to help with snow removal for this wonderful community asset. The MLSCC Board is looking to solve this ongoing fiscal shortcoming to keep the building, parking lot, recycling facility, garage and fuel tanks accessible and usable. If you have the time and machinery, we would be very grateful. A big thank you to our past snow plow volunteers, including Stacey Powlison, Rihanna Brownell, Paul Rogers, Jim Stanford and others.
Please come to our Dinner Fundraiser this Sunday!
