In typical Haines style, many people came together to help us make our Fourth of July old-fashioned pie and root beer float sale a success! Howsers IGA graciously provided us with ice cream for our floats, which were made very special by donated root beer from the Haines Brewing Co. We can’t thank these businesses enough for their generosity. We sent out word of our need for more hands to bake pies this year due to our small group and donations poured in! Pies were donated by the following generous ladies: Deborah Marshall, Renae Nemec, Linda Nemec, Diana Lapham, Audrey Smith, Anita Hunter, Dena Selby, Dawn Woodard, Barb Blood, Lydia Andriesen, Nora Krake, Kate Saunders, Carol Tuynman and Annette Smith.
We also had volunteer workers to lighten our load and we give special thanks to Karen Wallace, John Shook, Andrea Shook, Diana Edwards and Maddy Russell for helping out. (If I missed anyone, thank you with my apologies. We tried hard to document everyone’s contribution.)
Our personal support group (i.e. husbands) were there to set up, work and take down our booth — such champs, every one!
And last but certainly not least, thank you to everyone who came by and purchased a piece of pie, a whole pie and/or a root beer float. You all helped make 2022 a successful Fourth for the Haines Women’s Club!
Susan Johnston, Haines Women’s Club
