Seeing what I am told is one of the largest cruise ships in the world tied to our dock this morning made me thankful for Carlos Jimenez, former borough director of public facilities.
During the dock rebuild, Carlos discovered that the existing plans would not support the upcoming class of ships that were being built. He brought forward the plan for an additional dolphin to allow the new extended-length ships to tie here. At the time Skagway could not dock that size ship either.
Today our business community is being rewarded for the forward thinking and professional actions of Carlos! Please thank him when you see him.
