Haines Huts And Trails extends smiling high-fives to everyone who helped make the 2022 Kat to Koot Alpine Adventure Race a success.
More than 30 snowshoers, sledders, skiers and snowboarders charged from the Fairgrounds up 2500’ on Ripinski ridge and down to Tanani Point, proving that even a slushy February day in Haines holds opportunity for outdoor fun and adventure. Thanks to all you who came out to enthusiastically get up, get down and support HHATs’ mission.
Thanks to the private landowners who allowed access for a safe alternate route in challenging conditions.
Thanks to a crew of exceptional volunteers who employed their athleticism and expertise for the benefit of others: Bart Pieciul, Carver Culbeck, Josie Allen, Jason Eson, Brady McGuire, Kris Wuesthoff, Andy Hedden, Gretchen Roffler, Ben Williams, Jess Kayser Forster, Kevin Forster and Beth Fenhaus.
Thank you to sponsors who kept everyone fed, hydrated and rewarded: Aspen Hotel and Suites, Fairweather Ski Works, Haines Brewing Company, Haines Quick Shop, Josie’s Bread and Bagels, Larry Johansen, Mountain Market, Olerud’s, Sarah J’s and The Rusty Compass.
Thanks to the fickle scheduling of the Alaska Marine Highway for enabling Juneau athletes to participate.
Thanks to the Fair for their steadfast support of our awesome community.
Thanks to you, dear reader, for considering spending a few minutes to complete a survey that will guide HHATs’ next priorities. It’s right at the top at http://www.haineshuts.org.
