Last week’s article “Community foundation distributes annual grants” incorrectly reported that Southeast Alaska Independent Living received $30,000 in Chilkat Valley Community Foundation disaster grant funding for recovery assistance. SAIL received $68,000. Chilkoot Indian Association received $14,000, which was not noted in the article.
Two CVN stories—“Mud Bay residents submit petition to assembly to ban commercial events” on Oct. 28 and “Viking Cove event venue comes under scrutiny, again” on July 1—referenced a June planning commission packet regarding Mud Bay zoning code, which stated “complaints (against Viking Cove) have been filed in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Each time, the Chetneys have been found not to be in violation of their permit.” The Planning Commission found in 2017 that the Chetneys violated the conditions of their permit for adding rental units beyond their permit’s limit, reversing a decision earlier that year that found no violation.
