Timber framer offers frame package

Timber framer Cosmo Fudge recently started “Cos Woodworx,” and has designed and constructed two timber frame structures for sale. Fudge said he designed and constructed the structures to showcase his aesthetic that he hopes will attract future customers.

“I will take custom orders. These are supposed to inspire someone to think up a custom order. I just want to educate the community on what it is I do,” Fudge said. “I designed them small so they could be diverse. It could be an addition to somebody’s house. It could be a small starter home, a sauna, a studio, a guest quarter. It could be all sorts of things.”

The smaller timber frame, a 12-feet by 12-feet shed-roof structure, is $14,000 and the 12-feet by 18-feet gable style roof costs $19,000.

Fudge has been working with local timber framers for the past several years and most recently constructed a timber frame at Picture Point.

He said the frames he’s constructed could be sold separately or together. “It’d be nice if I could sell them to one client, and they could go together. I designed them so they could go together but we’ll see how it ends up panning out.”

Fudge said he will charge separately for erecting the frames. More information can be found at coswoodworx.com or he can be reached at 907- 617-5118.

Contractor now servicing appliances

Contractors Matthew Hunter and Jim Marshall’s Alaska Fixitmen recently began offering appliance repairs. The pair traditionally offer new construction and renovations to homes and businesses and service restaurant hoods, fans and ducts.

“My background is in building construction and contracting,” Hunter said. “Renovations have been my forte.”

Hunter said he added appliance repair to their services to try and drum up new business during the pandemic.

“We can go and assess and see what comes of it,” Hunter said. “The repairs have to be done in the home. I don’t have a shop to tend to greater repairs or rebuilds. That may come into play if there’s a demand.”

Hunter said he also built a woodshed in an effort to market small construction projects when the pandemic began last year.

“We reached out during the pandemic to build woodsheds to offer a product, something for somebody to see,” Hunter said. “So far nothing’s come of that. Whether it be a woodshed or a tiny home or a cabin or a storage shed, we can change designs and offer a variety of uses.”

‘Psychic mediums’ start podcast

Professional psychic mediums and mothers Vanessa Wishstar and Meghan Hart have started “Small Town Mediums,” a podcast dedicated to demystifying their profession and helping others tap into their own psychic intuition.

“We’re not special. You have the ability to do what we do, and we are going to show you how to activate that,” Wishstar said. She said she hopes the podcast will help people feel connected to a larger psychic community.

Podcast topics will range from the vocabulary of a psychic to what it’s like to work as a medium while raising small children. The first episode, which aired Feb. 15, featured a short introduction to the two women and a live reading. Hart said future episodes will also feature live readings, determined by lottery. Episodes will stream live on Fridays, details available on the Small Town Mediums Facebook and Instagram pages. Episodes can be found at https://smalltownmediums.podbean.com.
