We here at The Salvation Army would like to share with you an exciting opportunity for you to“Help Us, Help Haines.” On the first of July we will be kicking off our first annual “Christmas in July” campaign. Since many of you have participated you know that we do the majority of our fundraising during the Christmas season. By summertime, things are getting a little thin, so in an attempt to have the funding to continue the services and programs you have come to expect from The Salvation Army, we are going to incorporate a summer fundraiser entitled “Christmas in July.” We will have a summer kettle at Howsers IGA market, and counter kettles at various locations. We will also be doing a summer food drive and other fun activities. Watch for flyers. We will end with an appreciation barbecue sometime towards the end of July, to be announced. The funds collected during this event will go towards two separate programs:
Youth Programs. To help us continue to offer camp scholarships, school supplies and character building programs to our youth.
Emergency Disaster Services. We would like to establish a fund to assist our local first responders with water, meals, and emotional and spiritual support when they are deployed. The funds would also go towards victims of disasters for temporary housing and basic necessities.
