Registration is still open for the July 6th Chilkat Challenge Triathlon, now in its third year. The competition may not be as fierce this year, as former champions Adam Moser and Alisha Falberg, who won the event for two years running, will not be competing.

The race starts at 10 A.M. at Mosquito Lake. Competitors will paddle 9 miles down the Chilkat to 21 Mile. From there the intrepid racers will continue on bicycles for an additional 22 miles on the Haines Highway, wrapping up with a 9-mile run from Haines to Chilkat State Park.

The registration fee is $85, which will support Alaska Clean Water Advocacy, a nonprofit dedicated to maintaining Alaska’s water resources.
