An anonymous caller reported a parking violation near a downtown business.

Sunday, Nov. 11

A caller reported hearing noises in her downstairs apartment in the Young Road area. An officer responded and found no one at the residence.

An intoxicated person came to the police station around 2:30 a.m. because he missed his ride and had no way of getting home. An officer told the man he was unable to put him in protective custody, but gave him a ride to his residence on Lutak Road.

A 911 caller reported her stove was on fire. An officer and firefighter responded but found no visible fire.

A caller reported a single vehicle accident near 1 Mile Lutak Road. The vehicle had slid off the road. No injuries were reported and no assistance was needed.

Saturday, Nov. 10

The harbormaster reported a trespasser at the small boat harbor. The trespasser had previous notice to not be on the property. An officer responded and spoke to the alleged trespasser.

A caller reported a group of youths sledding down Young Road around 10 p.m. An officer checked the area but found no one sledding.

Traffic stops resulted in verbal warnings for no taillight and failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

Friday, Nov. 9

A caller reported seeing a coyote around 10 a.m. on a Comstock farm. The coyote had been around for a few weeks. Fish and Game officials said the coyote was eating rodents. The caller was advised to keep pets inside and garbage cleaned up.

A caller living in town requested assistance contacting her daughter who lives in the Mosquito Lake area. The caller had not heard from her daughter in some time. Police referred the case to state troopers.

A woman turned herself in to police on a $500 misdemeanor arrest warrant for failure to appear on a traffic violation.

Thursday, Nov. 8

A dog was taken into custody by the Haines Alaska Rescue Kennel after biting its owner, who lives on Second Avenue. The dog had bitten before.

Wednesday, Nov. 7

Police assisted troopers in arresting a male at a downtown hotel for a $10,000 felony theft warrant and writing a bad check.

A man came to the station to report being “cussed at” and “told to leave” at a downtown business.

An out-of-state caller requested assistance in contacting a relative to relay information about a death in the family. All numbers tried were out of service.

A woman requested assistance in retrieving jewelry she had given to another person. She was referred to civil court.

A caller reported smoke and a fire alarm sounding in a Deishu residence. Firefighters responded but were later told to stand down as there was no fire emergency.

A traffic stop resulted in a verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Tuesday, Nov. 6

A caller reported an intoxicated person at a downtown business around 2:30 a.m. An officer responded and took the individual into protective custody.

A caller reported suspicious activity in her upstairs apartment in the Young Road area. An officer responded but found nothing suspicious.

A man reported a suspicious person frequenting their home and workplace in the Fort Seward area.

A caller reported a sewer cover was off the manhole on Beach Road. The water/sewer department couldn’t find any uncovered manhole.

An individual housesitting on Mud Bay Road called 911 to report a theft in progress. The individual called back to report it was just a neighbor getting something from the property.

Dispatch reported 16 medical calls and two canine calls.
