Sunday, Sept. 14
A Highland Estates resident reported being very disturbed by the loud drilling in the Small Boat Harbor. The person was informed the work had been approved by the borough. Police received several similar complaints.
A Cathedral View subdivision resident reported a bear had killed a cub near her home and an eagle was circling the area where the cub had been dragged. Wildlife troopers were advised.
A construction company reported conducting a controlled blast at 6.5 Mile Haines Highway. Another blast was to be set off Thursday.
A Comstock Road resident reported shots fired. An officer responded but was unable to locate anyone with a firearm, though he did find fireworks appeared to have been set off on Sawmill Road.
An FAA Road resident reported a bear walking in the ditch along the road. An officer responded but was unable to locate the bear.
Saturday, Sept. 13
Police served a civil packet on a Haines man.
A caller reported his nephew was being harassed by a former Haines Police officer. The chief of police was notified of the complaint.
Friday, Sept. 12
Police initiated an investigation after a man came to the police station to report someone had violated a protective order the previous evening at a downtown bar.
Police received a protective order to serve on a Small Tracts Road resident.
Dispatch referred a call from AAA to troopers regarding a motorist who ran out of fuel near 23 Mile Haines Highway.
A caller reported a horse loose on Small Tracts Road. The Haines Animal Rescue Kennel was advised and reported the horse had been caught by the owner.
A person called to report a woman had been assaulted by a man the previous night at a Union Street residence. An officer responded and interviewed the alleged victim, who denied an assault had happened.
Thursday, Sept. 11
A caller reported an explosion in the laundry room at the Deishu senior housing building. Police and fire crews responded and determined the top of a fire extinguisher had blown off. No one was hurt.
A Deishu Drive resident reported she thought a man in the housing unit was drinking alcohol. She said she feared there would be a disturbance, though one hadn’t occurred.
An intoxicated woman on Deishu Drive called 911 to ask for the phone number of an out-of-town police department. Dispatch helped the caller and told her to use the office line.
A Small Tracts Road resident reported a friend told him a woman was threatening to get the caller put in jail. The man said he would be peacefully attending an event at a local bar and wanted police to know what the woman had allegedly been saying.
A caller reported walking into a bar on Front Street and being verbally abused by the petitioner of a protective order. The caller, who was the recipient of the protective order, called police and said he left the bar after seeing the other person.
Wednesday, Sept. 10
An officer served a civil packet on a Haines resident.
The magistrate dropped off a copy of a protective order he served on a Haines woman.
Tuesday, Sept. 9
A person asked if the piles of concrete behind the public safety building could be cleaned up because they were making it difficult to navigate. The borough’s public facilities director was notified.
A Dolphin Street resident called to report a dog bite. An officer responded and initiated a case.
A caller reported a reckless driver near the intersection of Front Street and Old Haines Highway. An officer responded and found the vehicle, but not the driver.
Dispatch received eight medical calls and two canine calls.
