A caller reported an unauthorized person had opened their certified mail. The person was told to contact the post office.
A person reported a burn on Deishu Drive they believed to be illegal. Dispatch told the caller the person was legal.
A Haines Highway business manager reported an abandoned vehicle left on the property overnight. The vehicle owner said they would move the vehicle.
Saturday, June 28
A caller reported a sow with cubs near the Raven House on Front Street. Wildlife troopers were advised.
A person reported a tree across the westbound lane near 10 Mile Haines Highway. State road crews were advised.
Friday, June 27
A pedestrian reported bears in the bushes near 5 Mile Lutak Road. The caller was told bears in the area are common at this time of year and to contact police if he needed help.
A caller reported juveniles jumping off the Port Chilkoot Dock. Another caller reported the same issue and said the youths were kayaking in the area when a boat was about to dock. Police contacted the juveniles who said they would stop.
A person reported a man recklessly driving a four-wheeler on Front Street. Police were advised.
A caller reported a dirt bike lacking the proper equipment driving down FAA Road. Police contacted the driver and warned him to make the bike legal and keep the noise down.
Traffic stops resulted in a citation for speeding and warnings for defective taillight, driving below the speed limit and swerving between lanes.
Thursday, June 26
Police investigated an open door at a business on Fair Drive but found an employee there.
Police served a protective order on a Haines man.
A caller reported a man on the beach who was burning a campfire and yelling. Police responded to the Chilkat Cruises Dock but were unable to find the man.
A person reported an unattended fire on Skyline and Young roads. Police investigated and found the fire was attended.
A business near 0 Mile Old Haines Highway asked police to conduct extra patrols in the area.
An out-of-state caller asked police to conduct a welfare check on a friend who wasn’t answering his phone. Police contacted the man who said he had changed his phone number.
A person reported the fuel dock at the Small Boat Harbor was sinking. The harbormaster responded and reported the dock was stabilized.
Wednesday, June 25
A caller reported someone removed and stole a bike tire from a bike outside a business on Portage Street. Police initiated a case.
A caller reported that while he was urinating near the intersection of Skyline and Young roads, someone was videotaping him and he felt violated. Police told the caller his actions could be construed as indecent exposure if he was urinating in public.
A 3 Mile Haines Highway resident reported coyotes on her property. She was advised unless there was imminent danger to her life or property, police couldn’t do anything.
Fire personnel responded to a reported chimney fire on Fort Seward Drive. They found no fire.
A caller reported observing a speeding, reckless driver on Main Street. Police were advised.
A caller reported a person being loud and disorderly in a Deishu Drive residence. The issue is ongoing, and attempts to contact the housing manager were unsuccessful.
Traffic stops resulted in warnings for defective taillights and brake lights.
Tuesday, June 24
A person asked for help getting a restraining order against a relative harassing her. Police referred the woman to the court.
An anonymous caller reported a Haines man was operating a lumber business with an expired license. Investigation revealed the man had a license.
A business near 6 Mile Haines Highway reported theft of equipment occurring at an unknown time this summer. Troopers were advised.
A caller reported a dead sea lion washed up on a beach off Lutak Road. The caller believed the sea lion had been shot. Wildlife troopers were aware of the situation but, due to predation, were unable to determine if the sea lion had been shot.
Police relayed a message to a Haines resident for a Juneau caller.
Dispatch received five medical calls and two canine calls.
