Haines’ fermented foods fans turned out to share in an inspiring presentation by Sandor Katz this weekend and learn to make sauerkraut at the ANB Hall. Haines was one stop on Sandor’s tour of four towns in northern Southeast Alaska where locals also enjoyed treating him to our favorite places and activities – and sunshine! This event was a benefit for the Haines Farmers Market and was also sponsored by the Beach Roadhouse and SEARHC. We appreciated donations and contributions from Mountain Market, Olerud’s, Haines Friends of Recycling, Second Nature Shoppe, Pottery by Betsy VanBurgh, Sam Wright Flights, and the organizing time volunteered by numerous individuals. A fabulous time was had by over 50 people who turned out to chop, grate and squeeze cabbage and other vegetables while enjoying a good community gab. Thank you all for supporting and attending this event!
