The Haines Woman’s Club is thrilled to announce that more than temperature records were set this past 4th of July. We baked and sold a record number of pies and root beer floats! We send out our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make it so.
First and foremost, of course, to our tireless members and friends who baked 70 pies! Non-members Jean Smith, Barb Blood, Maddy Witek and Natalie Williams generously donated pies – thank you so much, ladies! (If I missed anyone, I apologize). After all that baking, the club ladies worked selling those pies all day as well! We had two wonderful volunteer workers, Karen Wallace and Tomi Scovill, who helped fill in for two of our members who were ill. What angels!
We couldn’t do it without our member-husbands, who worked so hard to support us. Donations of root beer by the Haines Brewing Company and ice cream from Howsers IGA made our ice cream floats possible, and they were very popular in the heat! And lastly, thanks to all of you who bought pies and floats and helped us reach our goal of purchasing a safe saw for the Haines School wood shop. What a great community we live in! Thank you all!
